GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS for the programs offered by the Graduate School are listed below. For the specific admission requirements of the department/program you are applying to, please refer to the DEPARTMENTAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Yeditepe University for admission to graduate programs. The accepted examinations, minimum required scores, exemption conditions, and placement procedures are outlined below.
- Degree-Based Exemption:
Applicants to master's degree programs who have completed their bachelor's degree in English are not required to submit an English language proficiency certificate, provided that the medium of instruction was English and this is officially documented by their university. - Submitting one of the English language test results listed below is mandatory for registration in PhD programs.
- Accepted Examination Scores:
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting one of the following valid examination results at the time of registration:- TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 66
- PTE Academic: Minimum score of 50
- YÖKDİL: Minimum score of 55
- YDS / e-YDS: Minimum score of 55
- IELTS and TOEFL iBT Home Edition test scores are not accepted. For examinations taken within Türkiye, only TOEFL iBT scores obtained from authorized test centers at Yeditepe University, Boğaziçi University, İstanbul Technical University, and Middle East Technical University are accepted. TOEFL iBT scores obtained from authorized test centers outside Türkiye are accepted.
- Yeditepe University English Proficiency Examination:
Applicants who do not submit a valid English proficiency certificate may take Yeditepe University's English Proficiency Examination. Students who successfully pass the examination may begin their studies directly in their admitted program. Applicants who do not achieve a passing score may enroll in Yeditepe University's English Preparatory Program. For graduate students, preparatory education starts from the B1 level; A1 and A2 level courses are not offered within the graduate preparatory program. Therefore, only applicants who receive a B1 placement result may be admitted to the graduate preparatory program.
MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
- For citizens of Türkiye only: Master's programs with a thesis require a minimum ALES score of 55. Test results older than five years from the date of application are invalid.
- For programs in English, please see the Language Requirements section above.
- For programs in German, the minimum required Goethe Institute Examination score is C1 and the minimum required DAAD/TestDaF score is 3, 4 or 5 (B2). Test results older than three years from the date of application are not valid and will not be accepted. If this requirement is not fulfilled, applicants must take the German proficiency examination administered by our university and obtain an equivalent score.
DOCTORAL PROGRAMS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
- For citizens of Türkiye only: Doctoral programs require a minimum ALES score of 55. Test results older than five years from the date of application are invalid.

PHD ON BACHELOR'S PROGRAMS REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
- For citizens of Türkiye only: PhD on Bachelor's programs require a minimum ALES score of 80. Test results older than five years from the date of application are invalid.
- The Bachelor's graduation CGPA should be at least 3.00/4.00 (or equivalent).
